Our Story

Ryan Shelby founded Northern Illinois Seed and Service in 2018, and agronomy graduate Shannon Schumacher joined up in 2021.

“Customers appreciate us because we know seed,” says Ryan. “We know our products, we’re diligent about crop scouting, and we’re always willing to help growers with parts of their business we might not even have a direct sales interest in. We’re down to earth and honest, and customers like that.”

Shannon agrees, noting that a thorough knowledge of the product line is essential. “We have to know these products inside and out,” she says. “That way we can make sure we’re recommending the right product for the right acres.”

Northern Illinois Seed and Service is a supporter of local 4-H auctions and regularly donates seed to the FFA.
